Which Size Curling Iron is Best for You?

Curling irons are great because they allow you lots of versatility and the ability to create many different styles. However, if you are new to using ceramic curling irons, you may be confused about which size to get to create just the right look. Different sized barrels will give you vastly different looks, so here is a guide to help you out!

Small Barrels:

If you are looking to create tight tendrils and ringlet curls, then a small barrel is your best bet. Any barrel size under one inch in size will give you tighter curls. Also, if you have short hair it is best to use a small barrel for any curling and smoothing needs.

Medium Barrels:

If you have shoulder-length or longer hair then you can benefit from a one-inch barrel. This size is considered the most “standard” and can create loose, natural waves for every day styles. You can use up to a one and a half inch barrel to get just the right look.

Large Barrels:

Any barrel that is larger than 1 1/2 inches is best for smoothing hair, as well as adding volume. A 2 inch curling iron create much softer waves, versus a tight curl you can achieve with a small barrel. They are great for long hair and creating a smooth and sleek style.
