Metal vs. Ceramic Curling Irons

Should you buy a ceramic curling iron?
It can be really hard to choose a curling iron - believe me, I know! Back when I was a hair care novice, I thought the most important factor was the size of the barrel. I learned that the smaller the barrel, the tighter the curl you can create. Since sexy waves were my goal, I initially invested in a 2″ curling iron. Eventually, I ended up buying a 3/4″ spiral curling iron as well, for those special occasions that called for springy tendrils! Then I discovered that I should also think about what kind of material is used for the barrel. My first curling iron had a metal barrel, and I definitely had a few unfortunate incidents early on that ended with me frying my hair! I know a girl who accidentally burned off half of her bangs that way! But now I know the key to curling your hair safely: Ceramic curling irons! Ceramic curling irons are a little more expensive than metal ones, but they are so much better for your hair. The ceramic is able to maintain a constant, even heat, and you won’t “cook” your hair the way you can with metal. Plus, ceramic curling irons will seal the cuticle of your hair shaft, which will give you that smooth, shiny look you want. It’s no contest, really - ceramic curling irons win every time!
