How I Discovered Ceramic Curling Irons
I grew up with three brothers and I was the only girl. My mom was a bit of a hippie so when it came to makeup and styling my hair, she was not much help. The problem was that I was, and am, definitely a girly-girl and I love everything to do with dressing up and doing my makeup and hair. Since I didn’t have much guidance though, I always thought that all curling irons were created equal. I just used whatever I could find at the drugstore or whatever was leftover in my cousin’s dusty hair product drawer. And my hair has paid the price for it. It was damaged and fried, which made me try to “fix” it even more.
It wasn’t until I left for college and found my own hair stylist at my own salon (that alone was liberating!) that I discovered ceramic curling irons. My stylist knew what my problem was right away, before he ever heard my story. He said, “Honey, you can’t just use hot metal on your hair and expect it not to burn.” It was like a light bulb had turned on. Of course, you couldn’t! I bout professional ceramic curling irons that day and I have never looked back!
